Went to high school at San Diego football powerhouse San Pasqual High School. Lettered in football, basketball, and track. Was the captain of all three teams his senior year. In football, he was a triple-option quarterback that made it to the CIF Championship his junior year and ended up losing to a Helix team that was led by Alex Smith and Reggie Bush. Scored over 1,500 points as a power forward on the basketball team.
